Our Wonderful PTA

Thank you to our wonderful PTA who purchased a license for every child in the school to access the Collins Big Cat E-books online library during lockdown.  Class teachers allocated two books each week according to the child's colour band. The resource was a great addition to the home learning and benefitted the children enormously.

The PTA also donated money for the new books in the classrooms.  Again, every child benefitted from these lovely books.

Online Michaelmas Market

Our Michaelmas Market was different due to the Coronavirus but the PTA still managed to have fun and raised lots of money for the school.  The online event included a Christmas treasure hunt, play dough snowman and tree packs, Nordic cookies and lots more; and of course we also held our amazing annual Christmas Hamper raffle!

Our Wonderful PTA!

We may be biased but we truly believe that our PTA is the best!  They have already donated £1,880 for new phonics books across all three year groups. This year, as well as organising the MacMillan Coffee Mornings; Harvest basket donations; Nearly New Uniform Sales; PTA Quiz; Class Christmas projects; buying and paying for the food at the Year One Starlight Safari and organising another fantastic Michaelmas Market.

Don’t forget that as a parent of Riverhead Infants’ School you are automatically part of the PTA and without the help of you all none of the events could happen, and the children wouldn’t benefit from your generosity.  The PTA is a fantastic organisation that not only raises essential monies for the school but also brings families together for social events.

PTA QUIZ NIGHT

Congratulations to the “Sizzlers”, who were the winning team at this year’s PTA Quiz!  This year’s quiz was led by Mr and Mrs Osborne and was a great success with everyone having fun and using their brainpower!  The event raised a fantastic £1,870, well done everyone!

New Computer Suite

We would like to say a very big thank to everyone who has supported the PTA and the school by giving their time, suggestions, organisational skills and money to raise funds for our wonderful new computer suite.  The suite has enhanced our computer curriculum by providing each child with their own computer in a bright and cheerful space which enthuses them to participate in their lessons.

Outdoor Transformation

You may have noticed the fantastic work going on in the Early Year's outside classroom.  We now have learning zone sheds, new planters, climbing apparatus and mark making boards.  We are very excited with this new equipment and would like to say a huge thank you to the PTA for giving us the funds to buy it!

Brilliant Boat and Terrific Train!

The children were delighted to play on our new boat and train! These are a wonderful focus in the playground and have already had a lot of use along with the three new picnic benches. All of our new equipment has been made using recycled bottles which encompasses our Eco School status. A very big thank you goes to the PTA for funding the new equipment.

New Class Furniture

The Year 1 and 2 children are enjoying their new classrooms which have been totally refitted thanks to the generosity of the PTA.  The staff worked extremely hard over the summer to ensure that the new beech wood furniture and class colour schemes look perfect.

iPads

The children have been very excited this term using our new iPads which were purchased with money raised by our generous parents through all the PTA fundraising and efforts.  Of course there is still a very important place in the classroom for pen and paper, but it is reassuring to know that Riverhead Infants’ are keeping up to date with the latest technology giving the children a wonderful start to a “well rounded” education.  They have been interviewing their peers, photographing the school and even teaching some of the staff how to use their own iPads!
